Economic & Market Insights
We do not describe markets. We model the economics behind them.
- KES 80K – 280K
- 3–5 Week Delivery
- VLCM Embedded in Every Report
Market Intelligence Built on Economics, Not Desk Research
Economic & Market Insights is IBClay's flagship market intelligence service. Every engagement produces a 20–40 page, decision-grade report anchored in the economics of the market you operate in — demand structure, price elasticity, competitive dynamics, cost curves, and the five-stage Value Leakage Conversion Model applied to your specific value chain.
The deliverable is not a slide deck summarising what your team already knows. It is a quantified, evidence-forward analysis that produces a headline KES leakage finding — the single number that reframes every strategic conversation that follows.
We cover the full spectrum of market intelligence needs: sector scans, market entry studies, competitive landscape analyses, pricing economics, and demand forecasts — each calibrated for the Kenyan and East African operating environment.
“Every Economic & Market Insights report opens with the same question: where is the money actually going — and where should it be going instead?”
| Dimension | IBClay | Typical Competitor |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | Formal economic model | Market description |
| Headline finding | Quantified KES leakage | Qualitative insight |
| Framework applied | VLCM (proprietary) | Generic SWOT / 5 Forces |
| Delivery format | 20–40 page analysis | Slide deck |
| Decision value | Boardroom-ready answer | Starting point for debate |
Value Leakage Conversion Model
Starting from V₀ — the total addressable value in your market — the VLCM applies a conversion efficiency (cᵢ) and friction coefficient (fᵢ) at each stage of the value chain to calculate the value that actually reaches participants (Vᵣ). The difference, L, is the leakage in KES per annum. That KES number is the headline finding of every Economic & Market Insights engagement.

Common Questions
- What sectors do you cover?
- IBClay's Economic & Market Insights service is sector-agnostic, but we have the deepest experience in agribusiness, financial services, real estate, healthcare, logistics, and private education — the sectors where the Kenyan and East African economy is generating the most consequential strategic decisions today.
- Is this the same as a market research report?
- No. Market research reports describe markets. Our Economic & Market Insights reports model the economics of markets and produce a KES leakage finding. The distinction is analytical: we do not tell you the market is KES 120bn — we tell you where inside that KES 120bn the value is being destroyed and what it would take to recover it.
- Can you apply the VLCM to a market with limited public data?
- Yes. The VLCM is calibrated using a combination of public data, primary interviews, and sector benchmarks. We clearly mark confidence levels for every estimate in the final report, and we will advise you during scoping if a market cannot support high-confidence modelling.
- What happens after the report is delivered?
- Every engagement includes a 60-minute board-style debrief session and a 30-day Q&A support window. If the findings point toward a specific strategic decision, we will recommend whether Research-Driven Problem Solving or Integrated Business Diagnostic is the appropriate next step.

Submit a brief enquiry and we will respond within one business day to schedule a 90-minute scoping call. The scoping call is the first analytical step of the engagement — not a sales meeting.
